The
counter-tenor voice is currently enjoying a high profile in the music
world and a group of young professional counter-tenors have come into
the spotlight. Ranked among this group, Ryland Angel and Mark Chambers
have established their international reputations through both solo work
in opera and recital and also in groups such as Henry's Eight, Les Jeunes
Soloists and the Monteverdi Choir. The bringing together of these two
voices, Mark taking the higher part and Ryland the lower part, provides
the opportunity to hear arguably the best parts of the counter-tenor repertoire
- the duets and songs of Henry Purcell and his contemporaries.
